Young People in Papae who cast their vote on by-election polling day at Papae Polling Station said they cast their vote with high hope.
“We decided to walk side by side as brothers, today we cast our votes with higher hope. Higher hope for better education, good road access, and also most importantly a clinic,” one of the youths said.
“Our village is located in the middle of the island of Guadalcanal, most of which don’t know how to read and write. We need schools to be built in some of our villages, some of us had to walk. Our location sometimes can be dangerous for us if we walk to the nearest school during rainy weather.”
“Most of us young people don’t want money from our Leaders (Both National and Provincial). What we want is education, we believe that education is the key for us.”
“But we believe today we will vote for a good leader because of a good leader equal to good education, good road, good health, and good water and sanitation.” Said the youth.
“This by-election for us is so special, and it’s a tough one for us to make our choice on which candidate to vote for because by listening to them campaigning all of them has the same golden plan.”
“So today we cast our votes not as different political believers, but as brothers. Brothers that care for our community, our constituency, our Island Guadalcanal, and our country the Solomon Islands.” Said the Youth.
Papae Polling Station is located in the highland of North East Guadalcanal.
