The President of Malaita Provincial Youth Council visited potential sites for noni farming in Fiu, Central Kwara’ae and Kwaibala, Auki last week.
A village leaders at Fiu village, Walter said he is happy to engage the youths in Noni Farming. “Noni grows wild here and the soil is suitable for it, it is good news to know, a buyer is ready to purchase noni from Malaita, we have alot of disengaged young people, the noni project will pave a way forward for them”
The fiu plain land has about 500 acres, suitable for noni farming and food crops.
Also, it is surprising to see giant noni, has already planted in Malaita.
The President of Malaita Provincial Youth Council Phillip Subu said that this is part of a proposed collaboration between MPYC and CGP. “As we know, we have already engage Malaita Youths in our long term crop Kava farming, however, some areas are not suitable for kava, thus, the introduction of short term crop Noni Farming will pave way for areas that are suitable for noni farming and engage our youths” Mr. Subu said.
CGP is really great full with the ground work carried out by the MPYC President Mr. Subu and look forward to this massive collaboration to provide employment and boost our economy with our natural resources.
