Efona Wins Central Honiara By-election

BY MIKE TUA – Sunday Isles

THE anticipated by-election result in Central Honiara Constituency has concluded, with Alfred Efona of United Party winning the parliamentary seat.

Conducted under the first past the post voting system, the election counting went down to elimination.

Efona edged Gordon Darcy Lilo of Solomon Islands Party for Rural Advancement who finished second.

It was Efona who triggered the by-election by filing a petition disputing the return that saw John Moffat Fugui win the seat in 2019 National General Election.
